John Stoyka was hired by CHS in December, 2011, and he since worked and participated in all areas of the Agency’s operations. He currently serves as the Executive Director, overseeing all Agency departments and leading it in its role in the fight against poverty and for housing security and equal opportunity.
His expertise lies in initial contact with households who are homeless and/or at risk; the acquisition and execution of federal, state, and local housing programs for the homeless or at risk; Michigan State landlord/tenant laws, eviction proceedings, and squatter rights; data reporting and quality; and service coordination.
John graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies and Economics from the University of Washington, and a Master of Arts in Urban Planning from Wayne State University. His studies focused on regional governance in respects to concentrated poverty. John is a U.S. Army veteran. He was honorably discharged after completing three years of service, March 2001 to March 2004.
